Advantage of Renewable Energy for an Individual Homeowner
from:
A certain newspaper writer is complaining about sudden power outages in his area of residence. The power keeps going on and off all day long especially on bad weather condition. There are instances when he is halfway in typing his featured story for the next day and suddenly the power would just go off and then come back on. Obviously, he has no choice but to start what he is typing all over again.
He had the same problem until he heard of renewable energy system. It gives him a buzz to try it. After all he does not want to be interrupted when he is working with his personal computer. When he powered his home through photovoltaic (PV) system and a wind generator, he is not interrupted anymore with the sudden on and off power especially during bad weather condition.
The aforementioned experience of that newspaper writer is just a manifestation that using renewable energy as a power source is effective. It is not just for remote residential areas that are barely reached by electricity facilities. That is why it is now recommended to be used not only by regular household but also to commercial establishments and industries for sustaining their operation.
What are the advantages of using renewable energy as the primary source in our energy needs as an individual homeowner? Some of the advantages are discussed in the preceding sections of this article.
Advantage No.1: Availability and Abundance
Renewable energy is abundant and available in our environment. For instance, the state of Colorado has a climate that is perfect in utilizing solar power by the use of photovoltaic panels and wind generators. If your residence is situated in an area where there is good running water, you can install your own micro-hydro power system which can provide you reliable source of energy around the clock.
In addition, these renewable energies are abundant in nature. As long as the sun is shining and the water in the river is flowing, expect that you can have unlimited supply of energy.
Advantage No.2: Flexibility to the Needs of a Homeowner
Does your garage has power tools or you have a home-based business that needs to run several computers all day? If you will be using your usual electric supply from your local electric utility, you will be dealing with high electric bills at the end of the month.
You can avoid it by using renewable energy to run your power tools and computers. You can design your own system to meet those needs without sacrificing your savings. There are several systems you can choose from. All you have to do is to select the one that will fit your needs and your budget as well.
Advantage No.3: Less Cost
As mentioned earlier, renewable energy can cost you less than consuming your usual electricity supply. Remember that the electricity charges are based on the prices of imported crude oil which are the primary fuel of our power plants. Once its prices soar high, expect that generation charges in your electric bill will increase. It is an advantage that you will just spend for an independent renewable energy system and its low monthly maintenance cost and the rest is history.
Aside from it, if you have a property that is relatively far from a power line or post, connection charges generally costs much less than a property near a power line or post. You can have savings if you will just purchase a renewable energy. No additional charges on power lines extension or whatsoever.
These are just several advantages if you will be using renewable energy for your energy needs. Avail of it now, and worry no more of interrupted power service and electricity cost for your household.
